Hello!
Just wondering, have VDPs being redone in FPGA and if so, do any support enhanced VDP functions (Like no sprite blinking)?
Thanks!

The ocm incorporate a fpga vdp.
What would be nice is having a full v9958 drop in replacement with some enhancements like a better sprite mode and faster blitter

ok, we do an advanced fpga, for what?
it would not be more useful to integrate a V9990 + 9958 into an fpga ?, so you would have a fixed user base, and not further disperse the MSX community.
Come on, I think it would be more useful a fpga that makes 9990 (or master system vdp), than a new one.
But it's just an opinion

I agree pretty strongly with that Smile.

The TMS9918 (or any related revision of this VDP) has a FPGA rendition named F18A, now F18A mk2, with some extra features like bigger VRAM, high resolutions and a ton of sprite improvements.

!!!
Look at these specs! Has anyone implemented this on an msx and if not, why?

Well.. just my personal opinion of course..
If you are going to implement something for the MSX in FPGA, I'd stick to hardware that can actually be used on a real MSX as well or you're just going to create an imaginary machine. If it's MSX software, you should also be able to run it on real MSX hardware in some way.
Unless you're going to to an "MSX 3" in FPGA, But your usedbase is probably going to be quite limited.

Doesn't seem to be a problem for the TI99/4A... It is backward compatible it seems. It's not as imaginary as an msx3.

I read about vram but about gfx improvements I se nothing more than old version.
Plus if one worry about fragmentation this is another one vdp alike board that need to be supported
A physical drop in would be more interesting expecially if can output hdmi

It's the other way around that is the problem. You will never be able to run F18a MK2 software on a real MSX.
V9990 implementation would sound a lot better. You can run that on your MSX as well.
