@sd_snatcher: looks great!!

Thanks! It could never be possible without your help.

Tip: Recognize the name on the credits roll? Smile

I discovered two typo's though, both in the first screen of visual 2:
wake up (without the -)
of (only one f)

Ok, both are now fixed. Updated version released on my page.

Just had a look at Vampier's YouTube recordings and it was even nicer to see it the way it really is. And I also spotted some weird long name in the credits roll indeed - thanks! Smile

Do you think you will be able to implement Gilneas2's texts as well? Then I'll check and complete those as well.

One small typo spotted in the intro demo as well by the way: kidnapped is with two p's. And earlier on, I would leave out the first comma in the sentence 'The twin sisters, Lucia and Cecile, work as...'. These are only small errors but, although they are not part of the translation I made, I wanted to point them out in order to be complete Smile.

I can make no promises, but I think if you guys translate the texts, I'll try to see what I can do.

Django: You're good in finding the Japanese strings inside the binaries. Do you believe you can help us with that? Could you locate the talkie-mode string addresses and post in this thread?

No, I did not find the talkie-mode strings.
I think they use graphics and "copy". It's like one of the menus in Randar , Rikusu you know what I mean.

I think Django is right about the strings being graphics. The texts can't be found like e.g. the texts in the startmenu. Also they aren't stored like the GAME OVER message (with spaces between each character) or like the extra mode texts (with 00 between each character). Also can't find the texts with relative searches for multiple short strings. So either they made another sequence for the fonttable in the talkmode or the texts consist of 'graphic blocks'.

I had a quick look on the VRAM using the excellent openMSX-debugger. The GAMEOVER message isn't there as a sc5 graphic. So, there are some possibilities:

1) Its scr2 graphics, which is harder to check currently, as the openMSX debugger doesn't offer this feature. It only peeks at VRAM as 4

2) The texts rotated like many Konami games have.

3) The texts have some kind of offset added to each letter value, because the ASCII range is taken by the game blocks

I think those are HW sprites.

and

4) graphics are compressed

@sd_snatcher: yeah the gameover message is not a sc5 graphic. It's plain text. Only it isn't stored as GAMEOVER but as G A M E O V E R. So with a space between each letter (even though they don't show on screen). I tried to find the talkmode texts in that way since I couldn't find it in a regular way. I don't know how to find compressed graphics so I just checked this to rule out the possibility of it having spaces between each letter. Regarding your third option, that was what I meant when I said I did a relative search for the strings. So I took a word, and looked at the relative distance between the letters in the fonttable. Coulndn't find the words I was searching for. But if the letters in the words I was searching for weren't offset by the same number (and sometimes that is the case) there still is an slight possibility. Option 2 is one I forgot if you mean for instance an A having a LOWER value than a B.

But most likely those texts are sprites as DemonSeed and Django say...
