Hmm... Now that you said 32MB partitions... I remember that Prodatron said, that in Surise IDE FDISK formats by default FAT12 partitions 1 sector too large (according to standard) and that makes SymbOS think they are FAT16 partitions. Maybe this could be part of the problem... (Really shooting in to forrest here... = not likely problem, but I don't have any good ideas to give...)
(And yes, SymbOS reads the RTC in boot)
Hi Nyyrikki,
It seems that this is not the problem, as Sunrise IDE (CF) + LPE-4MB-V4 + SymBOS worked well to a Sony MSX F700D.
The problem is probably with the Philips NMS 8250.
All other programs that run from sunrise IDE (CF) and make use of the additional RAM work well. Only Symbos hangs...
I changed the date through msxdos, tried to boot symbos but the problem remains.
So, you found a bug in SymbOS? Contact the author...
manuel what do you think ?
manuel what do you think ?
Manuel thinks you found a bug in Symbos and you should contact the guys in the symbos tread. (Manuel is a bit straight forward )
Manuel how does this work on openMSX?
no problem
Yesterday, I replaced the battery to 8250, entered the correct time/date, pressed firmly the chips inside the computer, the problem remains the same: RAM is enabled, cf is working, symbos loads but it freezes.
The same happens if you run it from a different CF fat12 32 MB (1 partition).
what the little i saw of Symbos is that you should keep your storage devices the same dont swap your CF dont remove the second one (if present)
once you get to get it Symbos working correctly you should not change any storage
i could be completely wrong but Symbos hangs when i change something ,or it only loads partially (no background screen)
but
ehmmm
now that im replying here anyway i have a question
beside bragging about a sort of multitasking windows looking MSX-OS whats do you people actually use it for?
id use it way more if the diskmanager thingie would support sudirectories it would actually be somewhat usefull (to me)
I use it mainly for playing mp3 files. Adding several mp3's makes it so useful to play after eachother
And it worked thanks to your spread ini file on posse
ah
nice!!!
i was wondering if i got it right for other people
i just see it was downloaded over 100 times but your comment is the first reaction to it
glad it works
