Hi there,

i want to use a CF Adapter on my MSX2 NMS 8250... so Repair Bas has given me a adress

http://www.msx.ch/sunformsx/

where i can buy a CF Adapter.. but i dont know how it will work and what i REALLY need to use a CF Card on my MSX2?

So do i need only to buy the CompactFlash adaptor? And can i plug it then into a IDE Port in the MSX?

Or do i need other Hardware too?

And how will it work then?

Please help.. i am new to MSX :)

EUh...

You'll need an IDE interface cartridge, and then you can use the CF adapter to use a CF card as a hard-disk.
A normal 8250 does not have an IDE port: it has no internal DOS and only 3.5" floppy drive(s) (DD/ 720kB)...

If you don't have an IDE cartrigde, than the CF interface would be a better choice (or some other mass-storage cartridge like an SD-cartridge).

You have two options:
- If you already have an IDE interface you can buy the CF adapter
- You can buy the CF-IDE cartridge. That's a cartridge that can acommodate 2 CF cards. You just plug it in to a cartridgeslot and than you can use that as a 'CF-drive'

BTW the internet adress is no longer being used by Sunrise. Try to contact Rob through his emailadress in his profile here on the board.

No, you buy the SUNRISE CF ATA-IDE cartridge. Just plug this cartridge into one of your cartridgeslots (located on the right side of your NMS 8250), put a CF card into the cartridge and you are ready to go. If you want to use subdirectories you need a DOS 2 cartridge as well.

Hope this will help.

You need to buy this one:
http://www.msx.ch/sunformsx/products/hardware/ideflash1.html

If you have programs (from a cartridge or another source) on a disk you can put them on a CF card. After that you can run it from the CF card. Some software that hasn't got a normal file architecture might cause some problems. Some games spanning more disks can sometimes cause problems as well.

You can't order from the website. The 'Swiss' part of Sunrise doesn't exist anymore. You need to contact Rob Hiep (Sunrise on this forum)
