Tsujikawa has updated his ESE-PLD website with new information on the One Chip MSX. The site now contains a page that shows various prototypes of the OCM, and some more information on the MegaSCSI compatible MegaSD that has been implemented on the One Chip MSX. Interestingly, the site also shows a prototype of a 2-SD slot cartridge over here. Last but not least the site mentions that the One Chip MSX checks for an MSX-BIOS on SD card during boot, allowing you to use an alternative BIOS very easily.

Yay, you can easily try out C-BIOS on somewhat more real hardware Smile

Why will OCM require an additional SD slot ?

I also would like to know which one is better: MegaSD or Sunrise's CF cartridge ?

Well, the SD interface on the One Chip MSX is automatically FAT16 compatible -and- (which is the most interesting feature to me) hot-swappable. I'm not sure if the same goes for the MegaSD interface, but even then it'd benefit of the nice floppy disk emulator "EP", which is as far as I know the best tool to run disk images on real MSX computers. I have not done any speed tests yet, but I don't think there's many differences to be expected there.

The Sunrise CF on the other hand is easy to get your hands on - easy to install (with FAT16, if desired) and those CF carts don't get as easily lost on my desk as those tiny SD cards ^_^

I see the fact that I can use the same SD-card on both my OCM and on my MSX turbo R as the biggest advantage of the MegaSD. I'm eagerly awaiting the availability of this new device.

Indeed... although one could also use an SD-to-CF adapter for that. To me, the hot-swappable and MegaSCSI compatible features are most interesting Wink
