The night before MESS 0.129, MAME, a multiple arcade machine emulator, got updated too. Aside from nice updates unrelated to MSX, like being able to play Soul Calibur, two drivers for arcade hardware based on MSX were submitted:

Cool, I wonder if it would be possible to modify the Spinkick ROM to get it to work on a real MSX2. BTW is the game any good ?

It's a vertical monitor game, so you'd have to turn your head to play it on an MSX2 Wink and no, it's not very fun, the original Free Kick (1987) is much better.

Another arcade game that might be easy to port to MSX is Sega's Champion Pro Wrestling, on SG-1000 based hardware, a notable difference compared to the home versions is tag-team gameplay: http://www.mameworld.net/maws/romset/chwrestl

By coincidence I stumbled on the SG1000 arcade games just yesterday and I saw Pro Wrestling there too, I wondered what the difference was (other than the insert-coin feature). Cool to know it actually has something extra to offer comparing with the home versions.

Would be possible to produce a batch of something similar to the FORTE II arcade board? I'd like to have a *real* pocket MSX with the original components, stripping the keyboard, PPI, most external connectors but RCA, etc.

By the way, I've noted that the original board has no connectors at all, it is pinned on one side. Does it need additional electronics to output a video/audio signal and input joysticks/coins?

...stripping most external connectors except cassette port I hope? Hannibal
