Hi all! I've got some problems with my Gouda slot expander. It seems the last subslot doesn't function properly anymore... Anyone willing to repair it? How much will it cost?
In general, it's not a real big problem, because I don't use that one that often (I have an ATA-IDE, a 1024kB MM and a Gradius 2 SCC plugged in), but there's some problems if I want to insert my Music Module... I can't use that last slot :S...

Did you properly clean the slot(s) already? 90% of the time the problem is oxidation, you know Wink

do you have an extra power supply for your expander?
It can be that a music module in combination with the others ask too much power from your MSX.
so it does not work anymore.
Try that slot alone with for example your SCC to see if slot is working or not.
I hav also a 4-slot expander and i use moonsound, grfx9000 4mb and ata-ide that works, but if i change 1 of them into a Music module my Turbo-R hangs itself upo at startup.
So i put the Music module in slot 1 and slot expander in slot 2 untill i have bought a extern powersupply for my expander.

snout --> I've cleaned the slots... But way back, it was working. Strange, I think... Sad
Abi --> No, the slotexpander uses the internal PSU, but I already stated that when I plugged in only one cartridge, in that slot, it doesn't work at all! So it's not a power supply problem, rather a hardware problem.
dhau --> What do you mean?!

Oh and Abi, everyone knows a GFX9K is a big 'power sucker' Wink, so I didn't plug in that one on purpose. If I want to do stuff with my GFX9K, I unplug the expander and I plug in the GFX9K directly in one of my A1ST's slots. Because, also the length of the cables (flatcable from GFX9K and slotexpander) influence the video quality...

well for me, my grfx9000 works better then when i put my music module in it, so imo mine MM uses not that much power as the GRFX9000.
Maybe it's due i have the very 1st serie "big" grfx9000 version, dunno how the small grfx9000 works in my slotexpnader.
It works my both turbo-r (ST and GT).

True, the GFX9K claims more power than ANY existing cartridge. I have a big one too, bought from snout Wink (Hey man! The thing's working perfectly! Big smile)

Hehe, I bought myself a newer GFX9K in Oss 2003. I regretted I'd sold it already. Smile

hehe, that GFX9K is probably way better, since it's in a nice and small cartridge box. My series of actions when I want to see some GFX9K demo:

1) switch off A1ST
2) unplug slotexpander
3) break the GFX9K box
4) get the PCB out of it
5) connect the PCB in A1ST Port 1
6) connect a RGB cable to my second CRT monitor
7) switch on the second monitor
8) insert disk with demo
9) switch on my A1ST
10) N-Joy! Smile Big smile LOL!
Quite a series of actions, I think. Especially those steps 3) and 4) take a while. MCWF has nice large boxes I guess... Smile

Why do you break the PCB out of the GFX9K box? The flatcable does fit nicely, doesn't it?
