Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake included in MGS HD package

Hideo Kojima has tweeted some interesting information about the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection set to be released for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

The Japanese package will contain Metal Gear Solid 2, Metal Gear Solid 3 and an access code for Metal Gear Solid 1, which presumably can be validated through -for example- the Playstation Network. The HD versions are based on both the Substance and Subsistence versions, which means the HD collection will include the original MSX games Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake!

The Western package will get a bonus with the Playstation Portable game Peace Walker, but won't include the Metal Gear Solid 1 access code. Anyhow, this release will also feature the original two MSX Metal Gear games.

I'm glad I get to play Peace Walker, and I don't mind replaying the other games either.

Pretty sure none of the 360 versions includes MGS1; the game was never released on XBLA or anything. Maybe the entire collection won't be available on 360 in Japan?

I doubt that Metal gear 1 & 2 will be included, afaik Subsistence was an advanced version of Snake Eater (3d camera ect..), this package came with 2 extra disks with on the second the MSX games and disc 3 a video of the (then) upcomming metal gear solid 4.
so I don't this these games will be in the package since I doubt that they will rerelease a HD update of a demo for a game thats already released! (if you know what I mean...)

but .. I do hope you're right!

Kojima confirmed himself that MG1 and 2 will be included, so I think it's hard to doubt that. However, I think he was specifically talking about the PS3 versions of MGS HD, so it remains to be seen if they'll be included on 360 (seems they are, but the 360 doesn't have blu-ray afterall).
Metal Gear Online (also a part of Subsistence) apparantly isn't going to make it, though.
It will also be interesting to see what's included with MGS2 Substance.... the PS2 version had some extra's that were not in the inferior xbox/pc ports.

Similary, I'm curious if the Zone of the Enders collection will include any bonuses, and if ZOE2 will be the Special Edition.

Exactly the Metal Gear bundle I was looking for, although I think it's very strange not to include (a download voucher for) MGS1 in the European version. Ahwell, got Twin Snakes for the cube already...

The one thing that would really make me happy though, is a HD remake of (SD) Snatcher. A while back, it was hinted by Sony to base a Snatcher remake on L.A. Noire and I think an approach like that would really work...

I think SD-Snatcher would really work on Nintendo DS. Just a remake, slightly better gfx, same music, faster gameplay, same story!!

the pc port had the extras and you could play in a higher definition too, so it was not so inferior.

It did not have the skateboard minigame, might have missed some other features too.
The port also suffered from a few issues (analog control mapping, some graphical glitches, slowdown). I really prefer the PS2 versions.

i forgot the skate game.
but the analog controls worked well here.
i prefer the pc version because i could alt tab and do other stuff and because it loads faster.

fair enough...

did the shoot controls work properly for you too? e.g. slowly releasing the trigger causes your weapon not to fire.
It'd always fire for me (digital mapping) so I used a workaround by deselecting the weapon.

it always fired, my control had no analogic buttons. but i always shoot in the ps2 too, because you must press very lightly the button, so i just gave up the missions where you have to capture the enemies using the machine gun.

I've just ordered the Metal Gear Ultimate HD collection.
This is a limited edition with only 4000 numbered copies worldwide.
It has the same content as the normal edition + MGS4, some art, special metal box and a voucher for MGS1 from PSN.
So the whole collection (MG, MG2,MGS,MGS2,MGS3,MGS4,MG peace walker) in one box!
Too bad they didn't include MGS1 on disc, I would be easy too fit the 2 cd's on one DVD, they didn't need to change anything since the PS3 can play PSone games..

It'll be released in the end of november, so I know what I'll be doing next winter!

Got the PAL version for 360 today; as expected MG1 and 2 are exactly the same as they were in MGS3 Subsistence.
