I think it was the result of tests made by NRGO, but as it has been added to blueMSX several years ago, I have lost the mails. That's also why I say "ask confirmation to NRGO".

I can't read it.

There is a General Instrument AY-3-8910 chip (the first big chip on the left), you need to rotate the picture and it will be the big chip in the final part of the picture!

ok here I am, sorry for the delay but I very busy in these days with work.
so... tomorrow I will contact eng. Tucci and invite himself to answer to all questions about the Bruc computers.
he told me that he maybe owns all the prototypes of these machines, hoping that his wife has not thrown them away

Btw, there's a small chip with the indication 74LS32 PC. It could confirm my own theory that this machine is actually an hybrid machine PC and MSX.

The PC parts are (in version 2) probably the extra keys, the intro screen (with logo and menu) and the specific tape system. As long that you don't have selected 'BASIC' in the menu, you are in the PC part. When you select 'BASIC', you access to the MSX part. At the moment, it's a theory, but it should explain why games on cartridge don't start automatically after booting, but only after selection of 'BASIC' in the menu.

No.

A 74LS32PC is just a logic chip. The fact that the part number contains the letters "PC" doesn't mean that there's something like what today we would call a PC in there.

I don't think that the additionnal keys are emulated. For me, this machine uses a specific PC keyboard (so, there are more keys than on an MSX keyboard), on which a MSX keyboard matrix is applied (what's is confirmed in the manual).

Keyboard connector (JTAST on the PCB) appears to be a classic MSX connector. A PC keyboard uses fewer pins.
The PPI (Motorola 8255) and a few chips are used. The functioning is not emulated.
It's easy to add the diagonal cursor keys. Other additional keys require a few chips to add 2 ou 3 rows on the key matrix.

I found the following specifications on the user manual of Bruc 100 rev.2.

Memory map (page 65):

RAM is in the SLOT 1.

Cartridge port pinout (page 67):

Look pin 4, 16, 48 and 50! Three of this four pins are not standard.

  • Pin 4: It's written /SLOT1.
  • Pin 16: It's written /SLOT2. This pin is not used on MSX. It was reserved.
  • Pin 48 and 50: The port does not provide + 12V nor -12V.

There are 2 /SLTSL on this cartridge port! According to the memory map, I deduce that /SLOT1 and /SLOT2 are the signals that correspond to real slot 2 and 3. We can expand this cartridge port up to 8!

Finally the Bruc 100 is not totally a MSX. This computer doesn't support the FM-Pac nor floppy controllers, etc.

The cassette connector is a not-MSX standard connector and the intro screen on version 2 is probably made by a PC software as contrary to all MSX computers

This is nearly the same connector according to the manual (page 67). Only the middle pin (GND) is missing. I think a MSX cable should work by removing the pin 8.

Hey mars2000you, I wear glasses but I can read AY-3-8910 Wink
No it's the little 8 pin chip at upper left.
Maybe LM358 but not shure.

It seems to be LM358P - 8727AR, but I hesitate also for the '5'.

Yes I'm pretty shure it's a LM358.
If some on have this schematic part I'm really interested Wink
