Awesome MSX1 fast and smooth scroll
The insane mode is indeed quite insane.
If you want to try this yourself:

wow
It's insane! great work!
Hmmm...
1. I expected more reactions.
2. The music is quite nice and makes me think about the RADX-8 music.
3. Did anyone notice the Youtube link ends with OCM?
4. Insine is really insane. I don't think anyone can finish it
5. Continue working on it and make an MSXDev 2020 entry!
6. Where is MSXDev '19????
7. I need coffee...
8. and ( . ) ( . )
Am I right thinking the background is repetitive because every character needs to be present eight times?
Nice!! Haven't given it a try yet, but will give it a run tonight
@wimpie3 if scroll works the way I think in this game I think you are totally right!
I just found out this wasn't his first one:

Combining a few levels like this would create a very nice game. I also love the music BTW...

Enough for a complete game already.
Some MSX2 versions:

And an MSX2 8-directional Paralax scroll:
Awsome! This scrolling is so smooth!
Yes smooth scrolling
The horizontal directional scroll is cool, it really shows that you can get quite a nice effect even with the limits of the colour spill just by making the background cleverly with the restrictions in mind.
And the bidirectional scrolling one is especially neat because you can not just have 8 pattern tables in (MSX2) memory, rather the CPU needs to constantly update the patterns.
(For a unidirectional scroll in principle the MSX2 can just fit 8 versions of the pattern table in memory.)
