Since I dont have 360k disks and wrighting them is too much assle because I would have to recover the original drive.
I opted to have the internal drive power cable disconnected and the external Goteck working with the 360k and 720k DSK files, works perfectly.

And in the last 2h I also picked up my Sony HB-F900 and tested the Goteck in it has Drive A, and worked great, guess tomorrow I will test the Sony HB-F1XD to see if it also works with the Goteck. I think I'm going to put some extra cables in some MSX to use the external Drive.

And again thanks for all the tips.

I've seen a guy put a gotek and a normal fdd in a 8250 and put a switch on both devices' jumper. That way the switch decides which is drive A: and which is drive B:. Great idea.

I had the same idea. That way, if I really want, I can still hook up a drive to the external connector and use real floppies. And even boot from them.

There are adapters for this cable. It's elegant and simple, yet sturdy Smile

I have seen it on Reprofactory's site. But they aren't available anymore. Any suggestion to get one nowadays?

There's more information on the Flashfloppy Wiki for how to configure ff-cfg and all the various bits of the Gotek.

Hi all,
please, can you show me the schema connection for the 34 pin external fdd cable that you have realised/done for connecting the external Goteck?
Thanks in advance

Hi, please, can you say me what kind of connection cable have you used?
I believe I've made as you but nothing happened.
I've used for external connection a Shugart ribbon cable but the ony result is that the command "files" reads on prompt the files into my floppy or disk img selected by the Gotek.
If I try to execute or load some files there is the message the disk is off line.
I've tried with Philips VY-0010 floppy drive and with a Gotek configured in Shugart type, with host=msx.
I've also disconnected enterely the internal drive, as someone advices in this thread.
So I think that the connection Shugart type is not correct for the external fdd connection.
I don't find everywhere a user manual. The only reference I've found is in this page MSX CONNECTORS AND CABLES and External drive connector VG8235 dosn't seem to be Shugart for the pins 1,2 and 4.

Many thanks

I've got a few questions in return:
- have you updated the diskrom of your 8235?
- does your Gotek have a display like this?
- does your Gotek have its original firmware or has it been upgraded to Flashfloppy firmware?
- how have you set the jumpers of your Gotek?
