can you check whether the issue is still there with this openmsx.exe: http://openmsx.org/temp/16.0-debug/openmsx.exe ? This is just 16.0 openMSX.exe, but compiled by myself, so I can quickly build debug versions to get more info.

Unfortunatley, my firewall does not allow me to download directly a .exe file.
Can you provide me a link with a .zip file ?
Thanks.

Replace exe with zip and it should be OK. Zipped the files.

(You don't have control over what you may download on your own PC???)

Still does not work.
Same 'Multibyte error' (by command window).
Furthermore, Catapult does not recognize it as a valid executable.

It's my work PC, so I do not really have control over the firewall and protection strategies.

Good, that means we can dig deeper.

Huh, but it works fine?? What exactly happens then?

Can you try also the openmsx-debug.zip? That one prints some more debug data when the error happens. Rename after unzipping to openmsx.exe.

No, Catapult does not work with this executable.
I had to launch it from command.exe
