MSXdev21 #34 - Arya | MSX Resource Center

Arya is a puzzle game, inspired by the classic SEGA title “Columns”. A game from Brazil written completely in C language, with all sources available.

Play this colorful game either with keyboard or joystick in port one. All sources are available at here.

Contestants have until the end of August to submit their entries. If you are enjoying this MSXdev game, why not consider donating to the prize money. 100% of the donations will go to the game developers.

The MSXdev21 contest runs from January 1st to September 1st, 2021.

Thanks, indeed I think it's good for a 16Kb ROM (although there is room for some improvement), and has a good performance for a C game.

That was a good experience, better than Asm on some aspects, worst on others, as expected.

I'm particularly happy with the results achieved by the visual effects, such as the countdown, the "Hit" and "Combo" blinking sprites, the fadeout on initial credits, etc.

So far my record is a little over 500 blocks.

This game is really fun! It takes a special puzzle to hold my interest without music, and this qualifies. I think this game also somewhat compensates the users of MSX1 for the old official Columns being only MSX2 and above
