Hi,

I just rediscovered the great PSG tunes of the game Testament. If you just let it play, you'll hear several great tunes. The intro tune is very good and after the intro is finished, you'll get a lot of enemy characters presented with different background musics... Very good stuff!

This screems for rearrangements!

Or is there already something available? If so, please let me know Smile

Something like 10 years ago I made 2 rearrangements (MB 1.4 MUSIC/AUDIO) for Defender, a Dutch diskmagazine by Sargon.
I believe stage 3 music and boss tune.

This whole introscreen / story / enemies & bgm's - sequence you're talking about? I can play it by heart on a piano. Smile
So yes, it has been a long-time plan for me to rearrange that stuff in a way it (hopefully) deserves.

After MSXdev, I could make some quick midi's of it or smth.
Good rearrangements take longer and I think it should at least be done with as much "real" instruments as possible.

BTW, this game's soundtrack is also connected to Japan Telenet (RIP)

O.k., sorry if I tell you stuff you already know, I really tried only to include the most important stuff.
But completeness is a virtue, isn't it. Wink

GENERAL HINTS

Avoid hamburgers when your energy is full,
HOWEVER:
When you’ve seen the screen flashing red (means you’re hurt), it’s okay to get one
greasy-dead-cow-sandwich without being punished with the nauseating pink stuff.

Always shun hamburgers when having full energy, even if you happen to enjoy the pink flashing. :-)
You’ll never know when strong enemies or one of the “big” enemies attack you and after that, you’ll be glad to have saved them.

With grenades, it’s a different story; always use one if you can reach new ones immediately & you’re full-stocked already & when enemies are visible
This tactique will save you energy.
The “rule” also counts for boss battles.

Finally, the following tip validates especially for later stages:
NEVER collect weapons or maps which you already have.
You’ll know why when, for instance, one of those pesky amoeba eats your items!

Most of the time, you'll want the 3-way weapon instead of the "rear shot".

STAGE 1 FROM THE START:

From your starting point, get the grenades (use them with [SHIFT]),
and also get the hamburgers (game starts with 50% energy full).

Head up until you can’t go further.

Go left. At the T-branch, proceed left.
You’ll see the stage-map, on the ground, below you. Anyway, proceed left.

Descend the stairs and immediately head right. Collect the map.
Look on the map by pushing [ESC].

You = Green ‘M’
Stage boss = Greyish blue disc-like thing
Yellow pixel = wall (but not always impenetrable!)
Red pixel = nice stuff to collect

I recommend heading for the nearest big red spot first thing, and
collect a shield and full stock of grenades.

But we’re talking’ EXIT here, right?
Okay.

Examine the map. At the map's [absolute middle vertical axis], down part of the map, is a gate-looking wall construction with a one pixel wide “entrance”.
That's the starting area.

A little bit right of this, you’ll see the same construction, almost at the same Y position.
That’s where you have to go!
Go through this gate, and the very gate will sink into the ground after you’ve done so.

Look at the map; it has changed slightly.
Proceed up, right and up. Follow the path left/down etc. to the Y-axis centre of the map again.

When you’re at the absolute middle of the map again, follow the road down-left, passing the starting screen of the stage.

Now, you can find your way through the left part of the map. from down-left, to up-left, to right again, down etc. until you get at the place where the “stage-boss” is. Can't miss.

Remember: Entrances do not always look like one;
The opening/closing gates are depicted as “walls” on the map.

Reaching the top-middle of the map, the screen will flash red and from there, you can figure it out. :-)

Enjoy!

P.S. @ Everyone, how many bonus stages have you found in this game?
I found three;

* Boat stage
* Flying stage
* Walking over some Michael Jackson kind of guy’s face stage

Thanks DemonSeed! But why, whenever I use the EXIT, does the game ask for disk 2 that will only show some kind of end-demo? Question

It means you have a cracked version which is hacked to enable seeing the enddemo without having to finish all levels. The original version doesn't have this problem.

Nope, original version on a NMS8280 and on a MSX2+ enhanced Sony HB700D... Crying
