What is it with those corrupted graphics on the screenshots you can find on the net of the MSX version?
Bad dump/crack? Or was it also like that originally? (Well, not according to the screen shots on the box...)
Oh, that site was showing screenshots of the game running with the "Game Reader", being emulated on MSXPlayer, hence the corruption
And how do you know the SG-1000 version was ported from the MSX version, actually?
That's what I read on smspower's foruns, the site who dumped the SG-1000 version. Another clue is that both games seems to only use 3 channels and not the 4 available on the SG-1000... which helped to get the same sound when porting it back to MSX
Now the only two games missing are Cyborg Z and Won-Si-In
If anyone has any of them for the SG-1000 (or for the MSX, duh!), please contact me :)
BTW:does anyone has good scans of Dragon Story's game cover? or the cart label? Would be very cool to do a new title screen, or an "intro" screen based on that :)
Is "Dragon Story" really a "real" game? It looks very much like a Knightmare hack.. But I havn't played it so I can't say...
Damn, just watched the screenshots of Cyborg Z and remembered that I once owned that game!!!!! Sold it a couple of years ago on some MSX fair. Nice game with stupid happy music and soundeffects ripped from Firebird/Hinotori.
Really cool hardware, but I wonder what's the point (at that time) of having such an add-on. I mean, since all the nes hardware is needed in the cartridge, MSX only provides the power supply, the keyboard (and joysticks), and the TV adapter + cables.
What´s the point? With this adapter koreans could have been able to sell more Zemmix consoles and maybe more Zemmix games too...? As with this adapter you didn´t need to buy Famicom anymore, so Zemmix owners will stay Zemmix owners and not become Famicom owners = more money to Zemmix manufacturers!

As I said... It's NOT A KNIGHTMARE HACK!
The game has much, much more stuff than knightmare:
- you carry multiple weapons at once (all weapons you get of course) and you can cycle through them as you wish.
- every weapon has 3 levels (normal, strong and stronger) which change according to your power level.
- weapons "wear out" after a time. There's a counter on the scoreboard which shows how many shots you have - only the starting weapon never wears out
- power ups (which appear as small bags, you never know what you will find): shoes to make you faster, armour to protect you (when you have only one hit left the armor looses it's helmet!) a potion to partially refill your energy and an scroll that kills every enemy on screen; also sometimes it gives you some weapon, or if you already have it, refills the weapon counter
- you have energy, so touching enemies won't kill you at first... but you only have 1 life.
- the "squares" that appears on the floor - you have (something I cant quite figure out what it is) that gives you points, a sword that increases your power, a vase that refills (half of?) your energy and an skull that instantly kills you!
The gameplay is much improved from knightmare - and it has some graphics that seems ripped from it (and probably from other games too), but it's a very cool game!
And beware, once an level boss is low on energy, they tend to move and shoot REALLY fast, making it hard as hell to kill them!!!
(Yeah, I'm stuck at fighting level 2 boss hehehe)
Cool! seems like a realy good game
To me it's funny to learn the game is rare.
I don't have that much original games, but I so happen to own Three Dragon Story.
[/bragging mode off]
And yes, it's quite a good game, heavily inspired by Knightmare but not a rip-off.

3?!!? Damn, you should have dumped them a long time ago
You dont have by any chance Cyborg Z or Won-Si-In, would you?
If it's not any trouble (and if you have it heh) could you scan the cover/label/manual (if there's one?) - it would help a lot
Also I just added some stuff to the game: boot with SELECT pressed and the game starts as normal, if not it uses enhanced palette... and allows a cheat mode, but for that you must #### ##### while the #### #####
Does the original allows to play with both joystick/cursors or is it joystick only? (here both can be used!) If it allows cursor, what are the keys for shoot (space?) and select weapon?
Heh, and thanks to the cheated mode I just saw the ending
But beware: level 5 can induce seizures... too much screen blinking (every 5s or so...) - If I find the routine responsible for that, I'm gonna kill it
Wow, that's a lot of questions!
Most of my MSX stuff is stored elsewhere, but I intend to re-instate all of it at home soon.
Tell you what, as soon as I got one of my real MSX machines up and running again, I'll do my best to answer all of these questions (about Three Dragon Story that is; I do not own any of those other games mentioned).
I can't promise anything about scanning though.
