Tool for reading dsk files on MSX

Hi al,

What is the best tool for reading .dsk files on your MSX ? Most of the time the files i downloaded from the internet are in
.dsk format. (Verry nice if you use an emulator .. but for the real msx....)

I copy the dsk files to my SD card.. but now i looking for a nice tool that help me out to read .dsk files. (On the MSX)
So.. i want to read and maybe copy files from a .dsk image to a destination drive on my msx....

Also i know there are tools to run your dsk files on your MSX. What is the best tool for this ?
and what if a game or demo having more .dsk files. Once i had a tool for this but most of the time the dsk files where unable to run most of the time. Maybe it had something to do with my msx configurtion ?

For both .. were to find this ?

Running from sd should be easy in case of the padial sd interface. The software can be found on the site.

i was unable to find the software on the site. However i found some programs.. runit.com and start.com.. runit works good in combination with mapit.
I have an img file contains three disks (aleste) runit start aleste..but aleste asked for disk 2 .. and i do not know how to swap it virtual to an other (using runit)
If i use start.com the program execute basic and then nothing happens.. also a call system didn't work anymore. (must reset msx)
I have a 8280 (msx2+) , 7 Mhz, FM inside, slot expander .. where some hardware is inserted.. like moonsound, 256kb Music module,1024KB,gfx9000 .. etc..

I'm still looking for a tool that can copy files from a dsk image using the msx. Thanks.!

well u can use ur copy con commando to merge the 3 disks into 1 *.dsk to swap the disks inside with start or runit !

fm inside?, like using the my connector? ;-)

If you create 1 .dsk file with 3 disks inside the image (as you describe) how do you tell start.com or runit.com to swap to one of the three disks inside the image..
If a game/demo/program ask for it ?

the nms series has a my connector inside, from you can make a third slot.
how else you got the fm inside your 8280?

and start the *.dsk (3disk inside it) with start *.dsk or runit *.dsk and when it ask for the other disk then press 2 or 3 then space, it will swap to the needed disk

Ok.. i run aleste2 succesfuly.. swapping the virtualdisk using key 2 and 3 in combination with the space key...

I don't know how the FM is build in my msx. (I'm not a hardware specialist...) But FM, 2+ and 7 Mhz are inside the system.
I'm still looking for a tool that can copy files from a dsk image using the msx.

From the site, I mean Padial's site. It has for his sd interface a file with drivers and more. -> SD interface page.

However if you want to copy diskimages back to disk, then I think you need something else. Which I schould have somewhere. Which I will look up when I have time, don't expect it soon.
Then again the krazilec software does allow a disk to work as an partition which means it should be copyable as well. So for pure files that might be enough.

Ok .. thanks for de Padial's site tip... but i using a other interface so i think that is not working for me...

There is a util called "Disk manager", you can find on the RUMSX-website.
In the past I've used it to create *.dsk and also convert *.dsk to a real disk.
