Nijmegen 2007 - Reminder | MSX Resource Center

The MSX fair in Nijmegen is to be held on January 20th - which is within less than 2 weeks, so it's high time for a reminder! The following MSX groups have already registered for one or more stands:

Bas Kornalijnslijper - Repairs, expansions, cables, buy and sale of second hand MSX hardware.
Darkstone - BeeZ and casemods
Delta Soft - Demonstration and sale of home made software, like Konami Quiz 2 and Feedback English
MSX Club West-Friesland - Sale of several second hand MSX computers and equipment
MSX Resource Center - Big MSX survey, promotion of msx.org and recent MSX developments
M.V.M. (MSX Vriendenclub Mariënberg) - M.V.M. information
Nowind - Demonstration of the Nowind USB Interface, with which you can connect an MSX to a PC via USB, so that it can access all media of the PC, e.g. via disk images. Not for sale yet, but pre-ordering will be possible
openMSX Team - Demonstration of openMSX 0.6.1., the new Catapult and the debugger GUI
Stichting Sunrise - Hard disk versions of Akin and Pentaro Odyssey, sale of GFX9000 for €119,- and CF adaptors for €12,50, MulitROM 8-in-1, Sunrise USB Game Reader and hopefully a new series of the CF-interfaces.
SymbOS (Prodatron) - Demonstrating SymbOS Z80 multitasking operating system on the MSX2/Turbo-R and on the Amstrad CPC

On the Nijmegen 2007 website you can find an up-to-date overview of stand holders and their activities. You can still register for a stand if you like to. It is also possible to give a demonstration or presentation on stage. For this, the organization could use a beamer. Apart from that it's also possible to join a dinner at a Chinese restaurant after the fair. For this and more, please visit the Nijmegen 2007 website and contact the organization directly.

Note that it's not specificly the idea that people give a presentation/demonstration on the stage (although it's certainly possible if we get a beamer), I'm still looking for some cool thing on the stage in general. A certain VJ offered to do something on the stage, but VJ's (also) need a beamer And we need music for him... Maybe someone can help to support this act? Other ideas are also most welcome, but please react promptly! There is not much time left.

Advice to the attenders: Get a MultiROM cartridge as quick as you can! In the last Barcelona MSX Users Meeting they volatilized rapidly... Ask Guillian (Manuel Pazos) if you don't believe me :)

Another very important request:

PLEASE BRING LONG POWER CABLES!!

Unlike last year, we don't have long power cables this year to get power to the center part of the room. We need some people to bring a few long power cables to get power there!!
Please bring any kind of long power cable, if you can! If you want me to sleep better, please e-mail me and tell me what you can bring. BUT JUST BRING SOME PLEASE!

Ah Jos, I know you IIRC, you live in Eindhoven and were involved in the Tilburg fair at some point, right? Or am I completely wrong?

The cords are nice, but it's a pity you're there only in the afternoon. OTOH: it really can't hurt to bring them.

I will use a floor plan that takes care of the power problem: no more the big island in the middle (to make sure that power cables need not to be too long and that there are no trip wires all over the place). Thanks to Wolf for helping me with this.

Hi Manuel :-) That's me indeed. Used to help/be a member of the organization during (almost) all years of the fair in the big hall. You know... those days where Tilburg lasted an entire weekend :-) (Was only one year iirc... I am over 30 now, so my brain is degrading :-D

Well, feel welcome on the first MSX fair of 2007 A bit different scale, but it will be fun

Oh, one thing though: yesterday I found out that they just started to work on the sewer system at the parking lot of the building where the fair is held. This means we can't park as comfortably as last year, but it's not too bad: there's a huge parking lot only 50m from the building. You'll pass it when you drive to the building. If you need to unload some stuff at the building: just stop in front of the buliding, unload and park on the big parking lot.
