Raspberry Pi in Philips VS0080 monitor

After I bought a new old-stock Philips VS-0080 monitor I decided to use the old one for Retropie.

So I mounted a Raspberry Pi in it, connected composite and audio, added a power switch and switch to allow switching between SCART RGBS and the Pi and led the USB and UTP to the outside of the monitor.

I've also got an PL2303 USB to RS232 working with PPP so I can use the Raspberry Pi to give my MSX access to internet (using Konamiman's INL software for RS232 and a Sony RS232 cartridge). Still having problems with the DNS server IPs not being assigned.

Nice mod! I was looking into the raspberry pi the past few days, and I like it that there are so many ideas that sound like a fun place to build it into! I may want to get one to build a mini emu/gaming box with an MSX theme

Question: where did you get that new old-stock monitor and would there still be more available?

I was interested in a new old-stock monitor, afaik bas only sells used ones.

The old one was bought from Bas, I wasn't too happy with it because I asked a neat one and got one with the case beaten up, the front cover mismatched and broken of and the image rotated slightly. Even though the price was right I gladly would have paid some more but Bas didn't feel the need to solve this issue. I didn't want to make too big an issue of it as I need Bas for spare parts :-)

The new old stock one was offered on Ebay quite for some time (over a year) but the price was far too high. I made an offer and got it. The power button is broken, I think by the seller by opening for taking pictures (communication with him was difficult both in English and Dutch so I'm not sure). But the monitor really is new. No scratches, no dust, no signs of use, razor sharp image and the original box and electronics scheme is included (if there is a need to scan it in let me know).

I already ordered a power switch from Bas :-)

Thanks. I bought a Denyonet fro someone here on the forum so probably not going to use the Raspberry for a PPP connection, but as an all in one retrogame computer it's very nice. Retropie/RetroArch isn't as polished as it looks: OpenMSX and some other emulators don't run out of the box and button mapping needs to be configured for each emulator separately. So I still got some tweaking todo.

Regarding the hardware the power button of the Pi doesn't fit nicely because it touches the tube. I'm going to 3d print an adapter plat for it. Then repairing and spraypainting the case.
