Is the slot layout of this model already confirmed and are the ROMs dumped?
According msxholder, it is confirmed. Idk for the dumps.
I will dump the roms, all three roms are in socket.
The advertise in MSX Magazine says there is only one drive so de second was sold apart.
PS: There is written "Original price" in the description table. That does not mean much. At the time, the prices quoted by the manufacturers were recommended prices at launch. We sometimes found more expensive prices, or the same among manufacturers but they were often cheaper at large resellers. The prices fell even more over time. So "Launch price" (or more precisely "Manufacturer's launch price") is more appropriate.
In addition "Model number" or "Model" is also more appropriate than "Type".
In this proto, in front panel, the text says "Home computer" (vs. "Personal computer" in production)
In Fdd frontpanel there are no drive id, and dust cover is black (vs white in production)
Inside computer, for backside cartridge slot, the plastic cover over the pcb is white( vs. black in production)
@gdx: I've changed the templates, it is now "Model" and "Launching price" instead of "Type" and "Original price".
All three roms are now dumped, and can be found from:
https://github.com/popolonx/MSX_STUFF/tree/main/CANON_V30F
also VRAM expansion board kicad files are there, but it is "proto" for this proto....I have ordered non-golded pcbs.
By the way, in these rom ics, there are hand written texts straight to the chip surface. In disk rom there is text "V2.0" and in sub rom, text "MSX 2". In main rom there is no visible text.
@gdx: these pictures come from the released machine.
Only the proto has the slot for this VRAM expansion, is not.
