Long time no see. Here is another project in Korea.

We are making Zemmix Mini which is Korean version game console named "Zemmix".
Some of you guys should know Zemmix Neo :) Same group.

Handful size and better performance.

3 colored version. Zemmix has 3 versions with different color. Inside is same.

This is too small to use original game catridge cause it needs docking station.
Docking station design will come soon. Not like this box shaped.

When you use the docking station, it will support original catridges.

It has 10 Korean games inside.
When it boots without any catridges then game select screen will come.

Outfit is like this. HDMI and AV output supports. (AV - 4 pin 3.5pi connector)

Zemmix Mini uses Raspberry PI 3 with original Korean MSX bios.
To get the MSX license, we made contact with Korean MSX vender named Daewoo and lots of
companies related MSX.

It uses Raspberry PI but it reads data from MSX catridge in Real-time.
We are not dead yet. We are still making something :)

Seeya sometimes. :)

Wow, great to see you back MyGodess.
Looks like a great project.

I directly have a few questions:

  • What are the dimensions of the Zemmix mini ?
  • Will it be available worldwide ?
  • When will it be available (estimate) ?
  • What will it cost ?
  • Does it have a SD-card reader ?
  • What software is used for emulation ?
  • Are there any technical details how the cartridge slot is connected to the raspberry pi ?
  • Is it possible to disable the build-in software to boot in Basic
  • What MSX machine is emulated, and/or is it it possible to choose what machine is emulated ?

Keep on doing these kind of projects, love it.

1. Handful size. around 15*12*5cm. (A little bit smaller than this.)
2. Probably just for Korean. I'll tell you when it comes worldwide.
3. This December. Around end of year 2018
4. Around $300 in Korea. Very expensive.
5. It uses Raspberry pi cause it has SD slot inside. But I don't think it support sd game files.
- It is made under MSX license cause when you change something in SD, it breaks license.
6. S/W emulation and H/W emulation. MSX Bios and Z80 kinds of things are under S/W emulation in Raspberry.
Cartridge is H/W emulation with Raspberry GPIO.
7. There is. Korean guy named "Namguk Tamhum (Antartic Adventure)" made hardware and emulation source.
8. I think so. There will be some hot-keys.
9. MSX 2+ Korean bios. We couldn't get the Turbo-R bios License cause it uses MSX 2+ now.

I'll report something in here if there is some changes.
Still alive...

Zemmix mini seems based on the RPMC, a cartridge slots adapter for Rasberry PI 3.

You found him. "Namguk Tamhum" is the Korean guy who supports to make this hardware.
Meesokim is the nickname in English

Welcome back mygodess!
What a neat machine! Hope we will see some of them here, too!
What makes a MSX for me are in first order the cartridge slots. So this is a nice idea to connect them to a pi.

I also think it is very good idea. Still, there is some trade-off because it needs few seconds to boot up linux under raspberry pi. (Around 6 seconds to boot. We changed the kernel as small as possible to make faster boot)

Sorry everyone. I really see no point on those Zemmix clones. I see no difference (personal opinion) on accuracy between Blue/OpenMSX and those FPGA clones. Not to mention a Raspberry Pi using a cart adapter...
It's either the real machine (accuracy is not everything: the smell, the keyboard,...) or an emulator...
