Metal Gear load/save problems

Hi Hypersoft,

Which version of the game are you using ? (ROM image, disk image, translated ?).
Better, could you provide the CRC32 of your ROM or disk image ?

Getting a CRC32 file can be done on a windows computer by opening this (portable) tool and drag your romfile into it.

Every little difference in the rom file will generate a completely different checksum number in this program. And that way it can be determined if you use a bad rom dump or perhaps even the rom Louthrax has on his own sd card so he can check what happens if he uses the exact same rom as you.

I recommend to use the original ROM image, that will be more reliable.

Follow these steps:

• Be sure that the ROM image you are using is the European one (Japane Metal Gear works only on Japanese MSX models).
• Set the "'Game Master" setting to "Game Master 2" in the ROM settings.
• Start the ROM.
• Select "Game" on the Game Master 2 welcome screen. Metal Gear should start.
• During the game, press [STOP] followed by [CTRL] to access the Game Master 2 menu.
• Select "Disk Save" then "Game Data" to save your game at any point in the game (you can put any filename you want ).
• Press [STOP] again to return to the game.
• Just use "Disk Load" to restore your game.

Let me know if that works ! Lots of other Konami games can be saved / loaded with the same procedure.

In general, when you have the choice, prefer the ROM version for a game if it's available.
