how to execute .rom, .dsk or .cas from SD CARD

Hello,
I have a working LPE-MMC-V8BKP SD CARD reader which boots in MSX 1 and allows me to see the files that I have copied in the SD from my windows PC. Now the problem is that I don't know how to execute any application that is in the SD CARD (and that I can list using the MSX command "files"). I would like to understand the logic behind all this and how I can execute those applications present in the SD CARD.

Which MSX model are you using?
Do you have any memory extensions?

He has a VG8020.

The LPE-MMC-V8BKP interface seems to have a 512kB Flash ROM and 8kB SRAM to save temporary parameters. So it can't run DSK without Memory Mapper because DSK loaders require the MSX-DOS 2. Try to found a memory expansion of 512kB or more.

To run the Roms try a Rom loader that works under MSX-DOS1 like ODO or EXECROM. You can also run binary files under BASIC or using BINLDR. With a memory expansion of 512kB or more you can use SofaRun and everything becomes simpler.

thank you very much for your support guys. I am willing to have a look at these memory expansions. What are those? Cartridges like the LPE-MMC? How do I use them? Shall I place it in the other cartridge free slot?

I have checked the list but I really don't know which memory expansion should i buy considering I already own the LPE-MMC-V8BKP? Is there a version that only has the memory expansion without nothing else? Like SD card reader and so on?

You should get msx-dos1 working first.
Go here and Download the zip file. and unzip it on your pc.

Also Download and install msx disk manager on your pc.

Open the msx dos dsk with the disk manager copy (drag) the files (command.com and msxdos.sys) onto your sd card.

Download Loadrom unarchive that and copy the contents to your sd card. I've not used this version, so if this doesn't work, try an earlier version.

Copy a .rom file you want to try onto sd card as well.

Put the sd card in your cartridge, and power up the msx. If it boots to msx-dos, you will get a command prompt. To list the files you use "dir" command. If you are using "files" you are in disk basic, not dos.

In dos:

Loadrom xxxxxxx.rom

For dsk file, you need to Download this and unzip the contents to your sd card.
And try this command,

SDMMCEP

I've not tried it, but if you read the manual.eng it says it runs dsk files.

But LOADROM requiers a Sound cartridge or a ESE-RAM. The LPE-MMC-V8BKP doesn't have MegaRam, there is a FlashROM that seems used for its Disk-ROM only. I don't know if a part of it is usable to load a ROM into it. Anyway, LOADROM is not usable without extra cartridge.

I advise a Memory Mapper expansion preferably for MSX1 if you want use DSK.

Otherwise, you can take a MegaRAM like below. With it you can also run SCC games.

And then, if you like it all maybe someday you'll want a slot expander to use all at the same time.

Or else, consider buying a multi-function cartridge like the MFR or the Carnivore 2 instead of your LPE-MMC-V8BKP.

thank you very much, I finally understand how it works! I missed the disk manager part on my windows PC thing completely!
I managed to download a rom from the internet and make it work!
Now tell me what advangate would I have if I had a 512k memory expansion? What could I achieve more or better?

Little mix up here; ROMLOAD and LOADROM... (it is simular, but not the same)
