Hello.

While I am a new member here, I am not new to the community. I've recently made minor contributions to the community, built my own Omega with help from Sergey and Jordi, and bought games made by indie developers.

I felt it best to start an account to announce my most ambitious contribution, but one I want to share and collaborate with to everyone interested. It's called 'MSX-C'

On Twitter (@Jake4Fifth), I posted diagrams of what I wanted this ideal, affordable, MSX computer to be (which was then referred to as the MSX-CR). I've recently built further upon this concept and drafted a full abstract detailing all the fundamental features desired to make the MSX-C both a capable machine and an affordable one. I will be giving out access to the github project and make this project as open to collaboration and modification as possible. I hope to make this ambition a reality by sharing this project.

Here is the link to the Github project, and thank you!

I have looked into your abstract and saw that there's an MSX Resource Center Foundation mentioned - but as far as i know MRC is not affiliated with you in any way. Maybe good idea would be to remove that?

I just read my above comment and i think it sounded quite harsh - i didn't mean to be harsh though, my apologies for that. I will read your specs closer to understand how affordable could that be btw Smile

The specs look really nice.

A good idea would be to output the V9990 overlaid on top of the V9958, just like the Sunrise Video9000 does. This offers a much more powerful setup.

If you want to save some space on the FPGA (and time to implement everything), another idea could be to add the ADPCM functions to the Moonsound, and allow the I/O port to be configured. IOW, this would work as a combined MSX-Audio/Moonsound cartridge.

sd_snatcher, feel free to amend this abstract with your ideas and publish on your github as a fork. Ideally, I would like to reduce the necessity of a sound expansion cartridge and make games supporting those options a bit more accessible.

Just so I'm not confusing anyone, this is only a loose abstract. I look forward to feedback, suggestions, amendments, etc. That would fulfill the objective of the MSX-C as an affordable and capable retro computer, which would eventually lead to a more concrete scope and design for a test model.

Just a nitpick here... check the YM2419... I guess you meant YM2149?
