another wish: a true basic compiler able to compile msx-basic to executable stand alone form fast like the XBasic, with also modern procedural costructs and no mandatory line-numbers.
Well, does that mean the whole debugger is 'not good'? Anyway, just don't use the docking system....
It could be extended with more graphics stuff indeed (it only does most parts of bitmap modes).
For sprites, there's also an experimental Tcl script to inspect them: try sprite_viewer
on the console. And for tiles, similarly there's a tile viewer: view_tile [number]
. There are 2 commands exposed for the tile viewer, see the list at about tile
.
OpenMSX is a great emulator, THE reference of MSX emulators. Its debugger is good, but if I had a magic wand, I would make it a reference too. This is just my opinion, no offense.

Agree 800% with that! Free GuyveR800! Bring back Patrick.
That Illusion City finally gets a fully and proper translation, with the midimusic rewritten so that it sounds better on other devices than the mt32. Maybe also support for other midi interfaces so that ST owners can enjoy midi too

ST owners can use a μ·PACK to enjoy of the midi music in Illusion City.
I agree a proper translation would be very welcome!
An OpenMSX debugger as easy to use as that of BlueMSX is a dream.
... price of msx stuff for sale drops to decency level
... msx developers release source code
A new MSX computer that:
- Has the look and feel of a classic MSX computer
- Is 100% compatible with a Turbo-R (or a 2+ for the usual compatibility shenanigans)
- Has 4 external slots
- Is powered by a Z380 (yeah if we are daydreaming, YOLO)
- Its architecture is fully configurable (I can choose what's in each slot via a menu or a configuration file)
- Has built-in OPLL, OPL1, OPL4, SCC, V9990, USB, WiFi, SD slot
...and enough free time to dedicate to it, of course.
"The NestorSX system. 100% MSX, 200% power, 300% fun."
An OpenMSX debugger as easy to use as that of BlueMSX is a dream.
Yeah, that too, definitely!!
