I agree. Very impressive, however I feel the need to point out that it’s not wise having water next to the road when there is a hill climb. Not that realistic that the water levels suddenly becomes 3 meters higher too
Maybe the game is situated in the US ... Bluegrass.
Well, I think he was just trying the engine effects. Level design will come later

Seems to be fields of lavender to me.
The trees and the tunnel are precomputed.
All their frames are stored in rom and played like a movie moving 4KB each time
Oh, I hate when people just go and do this kind of stuff... No one comes to ask if they can actually do a arcade style 3D racer with zooming graphics 'n stuff on TMS VDP. If they would bother to ask first we could tell them that it is not possible at all. There is no 3D acceleration, scaling graphics, enough I/O speed or memory and that they should try to design Jet Set Willy type of game instead or maybe try to do some blocky scrolling top down racer as they are practically limited to character only graphics and few sprites... Now that they don't bother to ask we just need to sit here afterwards saying "Ok, that is not possible" and look stupid... very frustrating.

So they cannot even try?
Or they should only code the pong in its infinite variations on msx?
There are a lot of projects that look finished and good on msx that at a first glance one would judge not possible
NYYRIKKI was just making a joke
Indeed
It's like the hornet story:
The hornet cannot fly due to the shape and weight of its body in relation to its wing area. But the hornet does not know ... and therefore continues to fly
Ok, someone suggest to mr Nishi: MSX3 codename Hornet
(The bumblebee, I think, not the hornet? But this is me just nitpicking...)
"My" professor said, if you try only what you know you'll succeed in, you're not trying hard enough. Maybe one day I'll get around to trying to make my own attempt of faux-3D racing game on MSX1 and see if my idea has any merit or not.
