The computer technology museum Yandex announced the third rendition of their retro game battle. Develop a game for any legendary computer platform and have it judged by a jury of game developer veterans. This year MSX is included in the list of possible platforms.
The Yandex Museum in Moscow and St. Petersburg contains iconic retro computers and consoles. You can visit exhibits about hard and software, general computer technology, and amazing people who influenced its development. Besides that, Yandex organizes demos parties and game development compos. And the next edition of their Retro Game Battle has just been announced.
This is the third game dev competition that the Yandex Museum is holding. This time, the list of platforms has been expanded. It includes:
- Amstrad CPC 464/6128
- Atari 8-bit
- BBC Micro/Master
- Commodore 64
- MSX/MSX2
- TRS-80 CoCo
- ZX Spectrum 48K/128K
Submitted entries are judged by a jury led by cult game creators John Romero (DOOM, Quake) and the Oliver Twins (Dizzy) amongst others. Games are published and there are prizes to win. Games in any genre are eligible to compete. The main rule is that they must run on original computers from the list. Have a look at the 2020 edition to see what the fuzz is all about.
