To translate cas file to bas files simply load them on openmsx emulating a model with disk drive. Select dir as disk so you can save files on your pc in that directory then save them to disk in this way:
SAVE"filename.bas",A
And magically you will have them in ASC format (you can read/modify them with notepad or any other text editor)
Thanks thegeps
Err I've installed OPEN MSX but I've no idea how to configure it ! ? Can someone help ?
Have you downloaded and installed system roms? Otherwise you're stuck with the open source CBIOS. That can run cartridges only.

Err I'm not sure I don't think so.
In know MSX Computing had a lot of BASIC programmes in them but has anyone got .BAS or .CAS files of them all? If I remember rightly when they were printed in that dot matrix type font it didn't have all the special characters or something so £ was a $ or something silly like that, my memory is a bit vague after 35 years.

I mailed you the link.
OK I've extracted the zip and have Extensions,Machines and Misc Folders. I copied and pasted them into the Open MSX folder next to the Open MSX.exe file. I'm assuming i have to LOAD ROM ? from the OPEN MSX menu ? Or is other config required ? Oh I've also copied the three folders into the share folder for good measure.
I don't know what ROM to select at this point. I need one with a disk drive support and then It asks for a 'mapper' which I've no idea what that is or what it does.
