The Sanyo MPC-10, a.k.a Wavy10, is the first MSX computer released by Sanyo, a very active Japanese company to create original machines and this first machine is indeed very surprising: it has only one cartridge slot, but was sold with

  • a lightpen (MLP-10), which has its reserved location on the top
  • a tape with Lightpen Graphics (ライトペングラフィックス) on side A and a musical tool on side B.

The machine has an integrated lightpen interface and an expansion bus: it can be used as second cartridge slot with an adapter. The MPC-10 has been followed by the MPC-11. An updated version was released as the MPC-10mkII.

Size: 385(W) x 62(H) x 242(L)mm
Weight: 3.5kg

Sanyo released also the MPC-X, a Graphic Expander Unit which an extra VDP that adds 4 bitmap modes with 16, 4 or 2 colors on a palette of 512, high-resolution, superimposing, still function and zooming and uses lightpen. This expander needs to be connected to the MEB-01 slot expander, itself connected to the expansion bus of the MPC-10.

This computer was officially viewed as Videotex terminal when the Sanyo MPC-CAP1 Captain Unit was also bought and the contract was signed with the Captain company. It got then an additional label MPC-S1, meaning that it was good for this extra using.
