The SN76489AN is a low cost sound generator chip used in some game consoles and computers in the 80s (eg. ColecoVision, Sega SG-1000 and Master System). Some sounds expansions for MSX use this chip to run games from ColecoVision and Sega SG-1000 consoles for example.
This chips has thee sound channels and one noise channel.
There are three variantes:
- SN76489N (clock input up to 500kHz, 4 clock pulses are required to load data)
- SN76489A (clock input up to 4MHz, 32 clock pulses are required to load data, output signal is not reversed)
- SN76489AN (clock input up to 4MHz, 32 clock pulses are required to load data)
